Josephine Ann D'Apolito
February 16, 2022
Josephine Ann “Jo-Ann” (nee Maimone) D’Apolito passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, Jo-Ann lived most of her life in Little Silver, and in the home her father built. Jo-Ann was predeceased by her parents Agatino and Mary Maimone. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, Nicholas A. D’Apolito, her children, Paul N. D’Apolito and his wife Christina, Mary Elizabeth Deno and her husband John, grandchildren, Michael D’Apolito, Sophia Deno and Matthew Deno, and her brother Philip Maimone and his wife Sherry Smiley. Jo-Ann was a loving, positive, supportive force in the lives of many. She was a school teacher for several years, dedicating her time to educating and supporting children, with an affinity to care for children with special needs. When she left the profession of teaching to work side by side with her husband at his CPA practice, her gift to educate, motivate and inspire others continued in and through her work and compassion for people and their families. She had a true talent for bringing out the best in people, lifting them with her positivity, and bringing incredible wit to every conversation. Jo-Ann’s faith and spirituality has carried her through all aspects of her life. She was a dedicated member of her church community, and was blessed to share her passion of faith, community, and the power of the Holy Spirt with her Starfish Ministry community. She lived her life with heart and purpose every single moment of the day. There was nothing more important than the love and togetherness of family for Jo-Ann. She loved family Sunday dinners, was the fiercest competitor in any card and board game, was an avid piano player, was more than comfortable on any dance floor, loved to eat good food with close friends and family, but only at restaurants with table cloths, she never missed a Red Bank Catholic High School reunion, and always looked forward to regular luncheons in the company of her supportive and loving Monmouth University sorority sisters. Jo-Ann was affectionately known to those who loved her as Mama Jo, the Jo Mama, the Jammer, the GrandJammer, and during the holiday season, the Jingle Jammer. But she is best known as devoted wife daughter, sister, and mom. The world will never quite be the same without Jo-Ann, and she will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Jo-Ann and the joy of her going Home will be held at a later date. The family welcomes donations to The American Cancer Society and The American Heart Association to honor her memory and as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers. Hoffman Funeral Home, Long Branch was entrusted with arrangements.
