Biography:
Aniello, (Neil) A. Califano, 81, of Long Branch died peacefully with family by his side on Monday, January 7th, 2013. Born in Long Branch, Neil was a lifelong resident. After high school he served his country honorably as a Staff Sgt. in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at RCA Corp, ITt&T and Ft. Monmouth where he woked as a Technical Writer for the U.S. Army Cecom Command Division for 45 years retiring in 2011. He was a communicant of St. Michael's R.C. Church, Long Branch. A member of the Catholic War Veterans, the former Holy Name Society of St. Michael's Church and a Third Degree Knight with the Long Branch Knights of Columbus, Council 335, Long Branch.. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Rosaria A. (Trifari) Califano; sons, Neil Califano, Brian Califano and Paul Califano and wife Carol; sister Judy Banichar; brothers, Anthony Califano and wife Catherine, Lou Califano and wife Marlene; brother in law, Frank Trifari and wife Elizabeth; sister in law, Carolyn Sulaitis and husband Craig. In lieu of flowers donations in Neil's name to St. Michael's St. Vincent dePaul Society, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch would be greatly appreciated. Visitation will be at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 415 Broadway on Thursday, January 10th from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday at St. Michael's Church, Long Branch. Entombment Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
